Having seen the deleted scenes of the "Friendship Games" on Youtube, here is my opinion.

The Old Timeline's version retains the sub-plot of the Pony Sunset beginning to feel homesick and so the duet version of "What More is Out There," her talk with the Pony Twilight and the Rainbooms, and the Alternate Ending is kept. The New Timeline has the current released version.

The first two movies are great, but I'm really not interested in EQG.

I love the concept of following pony characters around in their world. Transposing their world back into a version of ours kills the appeal for me. I'm not interested in teenage humans. I'm interested in ponies. Especially the ones who have lives more inline with adults like the Mane 6, but still within the fantasy setting.

I went to high school. I don't need to see it again.

Okay, I really liked "Monday Blues." It had a moderately strong musical hook (though the closer was weak due to obligatory credits bit; any chance of an extended version with a proper end-chord or something?) Okay, the latest Equestria Girls short did in two minutes what Rollercoaster of Friendship couldn't do in 50. It got me to believe that AJ and Rarity were best friends. I mean, they weren't excessively chummy with each other, but at the same time, they weren't bickering like their pony versions did in earlier seasons even though they were clearly wearing out each other's patience.
